Last updated on July 28th, 2024 at 13:45

The strongest caffeine drink at Starbucks is their venti 20 Oz (600 ml) blonde roast brewed coffee which has 475 mg of caffeine in both the hot and iced version of the drink, which means it tops the list as the most caffeinated coffee drink for both hot drinks and cold drinks.

That is something I want to emphasize it is the most caffeinated iced drink at Starbucks and the most caffeinated hot drink. I stress this point as many other websites mistakenly list a trenta 30 Oz (900 ml) cold brew coffee as the drink with the most caffeinated iced coffee drink.

Keep reading for detailed list of the most caffeinated Starbucks drinks from strongest to weakest to find the coffee that best suits your coffee taste.

Strongest Caffeine Drink At Starbucks

The undisputed caffeine king at Starbucks, the strongest drink that the coffee conglomerate has on sale, has an astounding and potential jitter inducing 475 milligrams of caffeine in their Venti 20 Oz (600 ml) blonde roast brewed coffee.

That is a serious hit of caffeine and a full shot of espresso over the 400 mg maximum daily limit as recommended by the Food and Drug Administration.

Many Starbucks drinks will put your caffeine consumption for a single day over the limit. Be careful if you are thinking of trying them. So much caffeine in one go, in a single day can lead to some consequences.

At Latte Love Brew, we encourage you to stay within the set limit of 400 per day. Let’s now get to a neat list of the Starbucks coffee, strongest to weakest.

Starbucks Coffee Strongest To Weakest

Let’s get to ranking which coffee drinks at Starbucks have the greatest blast of caffeine from the strongest to the weakest. Some of these drinks are hot drinks, some are cold drinks.

Let’s get to that list!

#1 Venti Blonde Roast Brewed Coffee – 475 mg

This is the strongest caffeine drink at Starbuck, hot or cold, canned or served in house. The 475 mg caffeine content is high, very high. If you are a coffee lover and enjoy filter coffee, you will love the light, lingering and bright taste.

#2 Venti Clover Brewed Coffee Reserve Roast – 470 mg

Clover brewed coffee is coffee brewed using a brewing process that is only available at Starbucks. The machine used was invented by clover technologies which was bought out by Starbucks in 2009. It’s a vacuum pressure brewing technique, not to be confused with Siphon coffee.

One thing that is clear, very clear – all of the clover brewed coffees, in all drink sizes, have a high caffeine content.

#2 Venti Clover Brewed Coffee Dark Roast – 470 mg

Joint equal runner-up with high amounts of caffeine, a stunning 470 mg and only a tiny, insignificant 5 mg less than the most caffeinated drink is a dark roast clover brewed coffee.

It’s great to have different roasts, different choices as perhaps you don’t like light roasts and enjoy a deeper, darker and stronger tasting coffee.

#4 Venti Clover Brewed Medium Roast – 445 mg

A medium roast is the coffee that most people are most familiar with and the choice for many restaurants. It’s a balance between light and dark roasts with enough flavor from the beans and their origin and from the roasting process.

In terms of caffeine, this coffee packs a punch!

#5 Venti Clover Brewed Coffee Blonde Roast – 425 mg

Yet another clover brewed coffee makes the top 5 of the strongest caffeine drink at Starbucks. This is not to be confused with a regular blonde roast brewed coffee as the brewing process is different; it’s drip coffee vs the vacuum process of clover brewed coffee.

#6 Venti Pike Place Brewed Coffee – 410 mg

Pike Place is Starbucks signature coffee named after their first outlet. It’s a tasty medium roast that is well-rounded, smooth and with subtle but rich notes of toasted nuts and cocoa. A blend of Latin American coffees.

#7 Grande Reserve Nitro Cold Brew Coffee – 400 mg

The first cold drink on the list and has a serious boost of caffeine that puts you right at the daily maximum caffeine limit of 400 mg per day.

Nitro cold brew coffee is cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen. It’s rich, cream and sweet. It looks more like a beer than a coffee.

#8 Venti Doubleshot On Ice – 375 mg

Although this is called a doubleshot on ice, the Venti is more like a double doubleshot on ice and a more as it is 5 shots of espresso with milk, ice and classic syrup to sweeten it. As a cold coffee it stands out, in my opinion, as one of their better cold drinks.

May also be known among coffee lovers as a shaken espresso as it is hand shaken.

#9 Trenta Cold Brew Coffee – 360 mg

Trenta sized drink is large, very large at 30 Oz (900 ml) it is almost a liter of coffee! Cold brew is strong due to the coffee to water ratio of 1:8 being used and the long extraction time which takes anything from 16 to 24 hours.

A very nice, smooth and balanced coffee.

#10 Venti Iced Blonde Americano – 340 mg

A venti iced blonde Americano is made with 4 shots of blonde roast espresso and cold water in a ratio of 1:5 with ice used to chill the drinks.

Don’t let the 340 mg of caffeine fool you! It’s plenty of caffeine in a single drink.

A Quick Note About This List

There are drinks that fit on this list easily as their caffeine content and caffeine levels are more than the drinks stated. I have not listed grande clover brewed coffee reserve roast and dark roast (380 mg each) as they are the same drink as the Venti size, just smaller.

Also, not listed are the same drinks Venti iced clover brewed coffee reserve roast, dark roast, medium roast and blonde roast, which have the same amount of caffeine as their hot brewed coffees and are exactly the same drink, only ice is added to chill it.

The purpose of the list of the strongest caffeine drink at Starbucks is to give a choice of different tasting highly caffeinated drinks without repeating the exact same beverage in another size or temperature.

For the same reason Venti cold foam cold brew coffee (360 mg) was not mentioned. It is the same as cold brew coffee. The only difference is the cold foam topping, which has no relation to the concentration of caffeine in the drink.

Most Caffeinated Hot Drink At Starbucks

While there are more than just coffee drinks served at Starbucks and other drinks like tea and refreshers sold, few can be accurately described as having lots of caffeine.

Unquestionable it is a hot drink and from their coffee section that has the biggest caffeine boost and caffeine buzz. It comes from their Venti 20 Oz (600 ml) Blonde roast brewed coffee with 475 mg of caffeine.

Now let’s talk about the most caffeinated iced drink at Starbucks.

Most Caffeinated Iced Drink At Starbucks

The most caffeinated iced drink at Starbucks is often erroneously stated as their trenta cold brew coffee, which at 360 milligrams has a high concentration of caffeine and one seriously strong caffeine kick.

However,

both a venti iced clover brewed coffee roast and a venti iced clover brewed coffee dark roast have 470 mg of caffeine, which makes these two drinks the most caffeinated iced drink at Starbucks.

The third most caffeinated iced drink and runner-up to the two drinks mentioned above is also a Venti clover brewed coffee, a Venti iced clover brewed coffee medium roast at 445 mg.

In fourth spot is a Venti iced clover brewed coffee blonde roast coffee with 425 mg.

In fifth place is a Grande reserve nitro cold brew coffee  which has 400 milligrams of caffeine. Next is a venti doubleshot on ice, which has 375 mg of caffeine.

In seventh place is their trenta cold brew coffee with 360 mg that many coffee fans and bloggers are claiming as being the iced drink at Starbucks with the highest amount of caffeine. Unfortunately they overlook that many of their hot drinks are also served upon request with ice and have more caffeine.

It’s a great coffee but evidently fails to make the top 5 most caffeinated iced drinks with the most caffeine at Starbucks.

How To Order Strong Coffee At Starbucks

Ordering strong coffee at Starbucks does not need to be complicated; there is of course the list above to help you, but the list above may contain coffee that you have not tried, don’t want to try, or you have tried them and simply don’t like them.

I get it!

Coffee is a very personal thing, and we all have our own coffee taste and preference in regard to the drink, the way it is made, type of milk and flavored syrup and spices added.

Simply order your favorite coffee and ask the barista to add an extra shot of espresso or to add a double shot of espresso to your drink. As a result you will get an extra 75 mg of caffeine for a single shot and 150 mg more for a double shot of espresso added to your drink.

Your coffee will have both more caffeine and a stronger and more dominant coffee flavor due to the greater amount of espresso used, especially if you are not ordering extra milk or milk foam.

What Is The Strongest Drink At Starbucks?

The strongest drink at Starbucks, the drink that is on their menu is a Venti blonde roast filter coffee with 475 mg of caffeine. It is strongest both as a hot drink and a cold drink with ice.
