The total time that it should take you to make this Salted caramel cold brew recipe is approximately 24 hours and 5 minutes.

The 5 minutes is all it takes to make the tasty and rather delightful topping. Your cold brew coffee base, the main part of this beverage, takes 24 hours, perhaps a little longer, to extract.

….And there are no shortcuts, no cheats, and most certainly no hacks to reduce the long extraction time. This is the very nature of cold brew coffee. It uses time instead of heat to extract the delicious low temperature compounds.

Brewing it hot and adding ice to cool your coffee is a cold coffee; it’s not cold-brewed, it’s hot brewed and extracts the high temperature compounds and produces a different tasting coffee.

A cold brew is smooth, low acid, well-rounded with no bitterness at all. To get all the best low temperature flavor compounds you must brew your coffee at a low temperature.

Your patience will pay off.

Salted Caramel Cold Brew Starbucks – Making The Coffee

In my experience of trying various Starbucks outlets, only some of the bigger outlets have their Nariño 70 cold brew pitcher packs for sale. It’s hit-and-miss; some do, some don’t. You will find it on Amazon, eBay, Target and Walmart.

The caramel syrup is sold by their outlets and from the aforementioned places online and in their shops.

Ingredients Recap:

  • 2x Starbucks Nariño 70 Cold Brew Pitcher Packs.
  • 48 Ounces (1,440 ml) Ice Cold Bottled Or Filtered Water.
  • 1 Oz (30 ml, 2 Tablespoons) Starbucks Caramel Syrup.

You’ll need a glass airtight container that is approximately 1.5 liters (50 Oz).

While cold brew coffee is 60% less acidic than other coffees, it is still acidic which means it will extract and draw out aluminum, copper, stainless steel and the unhealthy chemicals from a plastic, stainless steel, and copper and aluminum container respectively.

Add two of your Starbucks Nariño 70 cold brew pitcher packs to your airtight glass container and add 48 Oz (1,440 ml) of bottled, ice-cold water.

Store your container for 24 hours in your fridge while it extracts.

After 24 hours, check your brew and run a taste test. If it is perfect, remove the pitcher packs to end the brewing process. If you forget or fail to remove them, they will continue to brew, and your coffee will eventually become over brewed.

If your cold brew coffee is not perfectly brewed, simply leave it for a couple of hours more to extract and then taste test again.

Add 1 Oz (30 ml, 2 tablespoons) of Starbucks caramel syrup to the bottom of a glass and pour 16 Oz of cold brew coffee and stir well to mix the flavors and get an even distribution.

Salted Cream Cold Foam Recipe – Making The Tasty Topping

The tasty caramel cream cold foam topping is very easy to make and can be made in less than 5 mins.

You can make a batch and refroth, re-fluff it before adding it to your coffee or make it fresh.

Using the best quality ingredients will get you the best results and the most delicious topping.

Here is what you will need:

  • 20 ml (⅔ Oz) Heavy cream.
  • 20 ml (⅔ Oz) 2% Milk.
  • 15 ml (½ Oz, 1 Tablespoon) Of Vanilla Syrup.
  • A Pinch Of Sea Salt.

Add your ingredients to your blender and blend them at a low speed for 30 seconds, a medium speed for a further 30 seconds and finally blend at a high speed for 30 seconds.

Pour your cold foam topping over the back of a tablespoon to diffuse the pour and into your caramel cold brew coffee.

Optional, decorate with a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Alternatively you can froth your cold foam with a milk frother.

Add your ingredients to a tall glass and blend well by inserting your electric handheld milk frother to the bottom of the glass and froth evenly and slowly. Move your milk frother evenly and slowly from the bottom to the top of your glass and back again.

After approximately one minute your milk will be perfectly frothed. Pour your cold foam topping over the back of a tablespoon and into your cold brew coffee. Optional, add a drizzle of caramel sauce to decorate.

You can also use your trusted French press. Add all your ingredients to your French press and mix well for about 20 seconds.

Close your French press and pump the plunger for approximately one minute or until the volume doubles.

Pour over the back of a tablespoon and onto your cold brew coffee. Pouring over the back of a tablespoon helps to diffuse the pour and helps it to sit on top of your drink a little better.

Another technique that can be used is adding the ingredients for your cold foam topping to a mason jar or cocktail shaker and shaking with vigor for 60 seconds.

This helps to mix the ingredients well and aerate it making it frothy and fluffy.

Pour it into your beverage by first pouring over the back of a tablespoon.

Drizzle with caramel sauce to decorate.
