Keurig Still Says Descale After Descaling
The descaling light on your Keurig is a nice reminder for you that your coffee machine needs to undergo a deep internal cleaning of the pipes and needles to remove the mineral build-up. The result of a good quality deep clean is better tasting coffee as you are helping to keep your coffee machine in optimal condition.
If your descaling light is still on after you have run full descale it may be that the process you have used is not enough to descale your machine. You may need to use more liquid and a greater concentration of descaling solution or distilled white vinegar.
Run a descaling cycle for a second time with 50% distilled white vinegar and 50% water and fill to just below the max fill line.
This time clean the entrance needle and exit needle before you start. Fill your needle maintenance tool with water that is as hot as possible and put it in the K-Cup holder. Then open and close the lid 5 to 7 times.
Then use a fine needle or unfolded paper clip to unclog and clear any blockages inside both needles. Repeat the cleaning cycle by filling the needle maintenance tool with water that is as hot as possible and open and close the lid 5 to 7 times.
Now proceed to starting a second descaling cycle. When complete, run 3 to 5 flushing cycles to remove the scent and taste of vinegar from your coffee machine.
This will usually switch off the descaling light on your brewer.
Keurig Won’t Turn On After Descaling
If your Keurig machine won’t turn on after you run a full descaling cycle, don’t worry! Even if and when your machine switches off during the descaling process, don’t worry!
There is a thermal switch inside Keurig coffee machines; it may simply be that this switch was triggered.
You can reset it by taking your machine apart, which will void your warranty. Better still is to just leave your machine and let it sit for 45 minutes to an hour to an hour to cool down and then try switching on your machine again.

How To Turn Off Descale Light On Keurig
Regular descaling of your coffee machine is very important to maintain it in perfect working order and serving perfect tasting coffee. It is needed due to calcium deposits and mineral deposits building up inside your coffee maker over time.
While calcium and other minerals building up are non-toxic if you fail to descale your machine regularly, they will result in a cup of coffee that is sub par and not as good as it could or can be.
Turning off the descale light is easy, very easy. Just press the 8 Oz and 10 Oz buttons at the same time for 3 seconds.
Top Tips For Maintaining Your Keurig Supreme After Descaling
It is very important to run a descaling process periodically. While descaling, take advantage of the moment and remove all removable parts and clean them with warm water and soap. Make sure you give the drip tray and water reservoir a good clean. A mild dishwashing liquid is more than good enough.
Rinse all removable parts with plain water and let them air dry.
Check your water filter as a water filter that gets clogged will cause you to have poor tasting coffee and will eventually lead to the build-up of lime scale, mineral deposits and calcium deposits in your machine.
It is advised that you change your water filter every three months. I strongly advise double filtering your water by using a water filter jug to fill the water in your water reservoir. This should help to prevent mineral deposits from getting to your machine in the first place and a second filter as a back-up is always a good thing.
Like regular descaling, I consider double filtering as a preventative maintenance routine.
Are Some Kinds Of Water Worse For A Keurig?
Yes, some kinds of water are worse for Keurigs and other coffee makers and for brewing coffee in general, this is the very reason for double filtering, to ensure that your water used is as good as it can be.
Hard water is to be avoided as much as possible. Even if you live in an area where the water from your tap is blessed by the Dalai Lama himself, I still advise double filtering.
Mineral water and spring water are good choices too. But honestly, double filtered water is good enough and will help you get better tasting coffee and will help to reduce the mineral buildup over time.
Benefits Of Regularly Descaling Your Keurig Supreme Plus Smart
Regularly descaling your Keurig Supreme Plus Smart will ensure that you will keep getting great-tasting coffee every time you use your machine.
An additional bonus is you will help to prolong the life of your coffee maker as there will be less mineral deposits building up on the heating element and in the internal pipes and pump.
Another reason for double filtration!
This is why I personally love running a light descaling cycle every other week.
