Toasted Coconut Coffee Recipe – How To Make A Toasted Coconut Coffee Recipe
It is very easy to make a tasty and delicious coconut coffee at home and doesn’t require any special equipment that you may not already have in your kitchen.
Ingredients Needed
And here are the ingredients that you need to make a tasty toasted coconut coffee.
- Fresh whole Arabica coffee beans.
- Mineral water or filtered water.
- Sweetened shredded coconut or unsweetened coconut flakes.
- Brown sugar.
Instructions For Making The Toasted Coconut Syrup
Preheat your oven to 325F (162C). Use a large baking sheet and line it with parchment paper and spread your coconut out evenly and toast for 3 minutes and then toss and toast for a further 3 minutes.
You will need to watch closely as it is easy to burn your coconut.
Take a cup of brown sugar and a cup of water and add both of them to a saucepan and mix them together at a medium heat. Stir well to help the sugar and water to mix together. Use a low to medium heat and slowly add your toasted coconut and stir them in well and allow the water to simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
Take your saucepan off the heat and cover the saucepan and let the toasted coconut steep in the syrup. Leave for 30 to 40 minutes. When your flavored syrup is ready, filter the syrup through a mesh to remove the toasted coconut. And store it in a reusable glass bottle with an airtight lid.
Then it cools down and refrigerate it for approximately 2 hours before making your first coffee.
It is probable that there will be a little coconut residue in your syrup. If this is a problem for you, simply filter for a second or third time before using it. It is not an issue, simply shake the bottle before using it.

How To Make Toasted Coconut Coffee – Making The Coffee
Toasted coconut coffee works very well with a number of different coffee beverages and different brewing styles.
Let’s talk about making a cold brew coffee.
How To Make A Cold Brew Coffee
Grind your coffee beans to a coarse, even grind size. Using a 1:8, that is 1 part coffee and 8 parts water. 2 ounces (60 grams) of coffee ground and 16 ounces (480 ml) of water.
Put your grounds in the bottom of a glass container with an airtight container and add 16 ounces of ice-cold water and brew in your fridge.
Brewing in your fridge gets the best results as the goal with making a cold brew is to extract all the low temperature flavor compounds.
Leave your coffee in your fridge to extract for a minimum of 12 to 16 hours. Check it and give your coffee a taste test.
When you have the ideal perfect taste, strain out the coffee grounds as it will continue to brew and will eventually extract too much and become overtly bitter.

Making A French Press Coffee
Another option that you have for this rather delightful toasted coconut flavored coffee is to make a French press coffee.
The French press is my preferred brewing method as it you have full control over all the variables that affect the coffee.
Use fresh ground coffee and a coffee to water ratio of 1:12, 1 ounce (30 grams) of ground coffee and 12 ounces (360 ml) of water is an ideal amount to make.
Ensure that you are using a coarse, even ground size and use fresh Arabica coffee as this type has a greater flavor profile.
Add your 30 grams of ground coffee to your French press and give it a shake on a flat even surface to ensure a flat even distribution of your coffee grounds.
Heat your water to 96C (205F) the perfect temperature for brewing coffee. If you don’t have a thermometer, boil your water and let it cool down for 20 to 25 seconds.
Pour enough water evenly over your coffee grounds. Pour just enough to cover the grounds and wet them. Wait 20-25 seconds to let your coffee bloom and de gas.
Add the rest of your water by pouring it evenly. When you have finished pouring your coffee, stir your grounds for about a minute and then press down on the plunger until the plunger is just below the surface of the water.
Let your coffee brew for 3 min to 4 minutes.
When it is ready, pour your coffee. Don’t let it sit in your French press as it will continue to extract and become overtly bitter.
Putting It All Together And Making The Perfect Toasted Coconut Coffee
