This means that in certain cases you can use it as an alternative to your microwave, particularly when it comes to making instant soups, instant noodles and oatmeal – to name a few alternative ideas that are outside the regular brewing of tea and coffee.

And when it comes to coffee – ohh boy! This list is literally endless! You can make all kinds of coffee drinks.

What Can You Make In A Keurig Besides Coffee?

Here are some examples of what you can make in a Keurig besides a cup of coffee. Have fun and enjoy making them and taking full advantage of the machine that you invested in.

It is perhaps time to start loving your Keurig machine and think about ditching that microwave.

Lemonade

When life gives you a Keurig…make lemonade!

Keurigs are not only for hot beverages; there are tasty lemonade K-cups that you can use to make tasty and refreshing lemonade drinks without needing to buy huge tubs of lemonade mix and tiring your arms by stirring continuously.

You can now brew a tasty lemonade over ice and enjoy that zest lemonade flavor.

Hot Chocolate

If you are in the mood for a tasty hot beverage that is not coffee or tea, you can make a number of different and high quality chocolate drinks from dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate.

The Swiss Miss range of K cups is amazing, and you don’t need to use your microwave or stir.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a great breakfast that is nutritious and filling. Unfortunately it can be time-consuming to make it. Keurig has teamed up with Nature Valley to produce a K-Cup Oatmeal.

If you don’t want to use their branded instant Keurig Oatmeal, simply use the hot water option and allow it to flow over instant oatmeal and spice it up with your favorite combinations of fruit, herbs and spices.

Soup

The fact that you can make tasty soups just shows you the extent of what you can make with your Keurig beyond a cup of coffee.

Keurig has a partnership with Campbell’s who have created a range of soups for their K-Cups. The K-cups are filled with a broth flavoring and contain no coffee grinds. All you need to do is pop the pod into your machine, add the sachet of noodles, as is the case with chicken noodle soup, into your bowl and press the brew button.

With any other instant soup brand simply put the contents in a bowl and brew hot water.

Cider

I’d be willing to bet that the simple fact that you can, if you so wish, make cider with your “coffee maker” raised an eyebrow with you.

And you can make it with zero effort!

Just pop in a Keurig hot cider K-Cup and you have a tasty traditional autumn or winter treat that is full of warm, spicy apple goodness. The best part is that cider K-cups are sold year round!

You can of course get creative and experimental and make a cider cocktail.

Cocktails

Talking about cocktails, you can get wild and creative and add a little booze to cider, chocolate and even coffee – something that is rather popular in Spain and Italy with Carajillos.

Warning: You add alcohol to your made drinks and recipes. Do not, under any circumstances, add alcohol to your Keurig machine. It might blow up and go on fire.

Pasta

Mama mia!

You can even make pasta with your Keurig. You can surprisingly make real grown up paste by taking your uncooked pasta and then brewing boiling water over it.

Or you can have a student favorite and make ramen.

All without the use of a microwave or the need to boil.

Can You Put Other Liquids In A Keurig?

You can put any liquid that you want in your Keurig, but I do not advise that you put anything other than filtered water into the reservoir. The only exemption to this rule is of course when you are cleaning it and using either a mix of bicarbonate of soda and water or distilled white vinegar.

Putting anything other than water, and you risk damaging your machine and/or spoiling future drinks that you make.

Yes, you can make the base for your frothy drinks such as cappuccinos, lattes etc with your Keurig, but under no circumstances should you put milk in your Keurig machine reservoir. Keurig has a milk frother that you can use for frothing your milk.

The Keurig milk frother helps you to make delicious milk froth with little effort – all you need to do is press a button.

Can You Put Milk Into A Keurig

No, I strongly advise against putting milk into your Keurig coffee machine. The milk will stick to the inside of the pipes and tubing and eventually go off, burn and cause bacteria to build up.

You should never put milk in any coffee maker, especially one with a water reservoir, tubing, and a heating element. You will end up damaging your machine.

Do Starbucks Pods Work In Keurig?

Yes, the coffee conglomerate has a series of K-Cup coffee pods that are 100% compatible with your Keurig coffee maker, meaning you can enjoy Starbucks coffee at home!

Can You Put Lemonade In A Keurig?
