Sweet Cream Vs Cold Foam

Before I get to the details of how to make sweet cream cold foam with almond milk, let’s cover the fine difference between sweet cream and cold foam since both can be made with almond milk.

Sweet Cream

Sweet cream is, as the name suggests, a sweet cream, usually made with a combination of heavy cream and dairy milk and poured onto your coffee drink. Sweetened with simple syrup or the sugar-free alternative sweetener of your choice.

If you are strictly on a non-dairy diet, coconut cream can be used as a substitute to heavy cream to thicken the almond milk sweet cream.

Ingredient For Making Sweet Cream Cold Foam With Almond Milk

As I mentioned earlier, all these ingredients are easily found online and at your local supermarket.

At Latte Love Brew we encourage you to use the best quality ingredients that you can find.

Almond Milk: The key ingredient. I encourage you to use the barista brand as it is specially adapted for the use in coffee drinks and can be frothed, steamed and whipped with no problems.

Heavy Cream Or Coconut Cream: Both these ingredients are great and can be used. Which you want to use may depend on your diet and if you want a coconut tang to your almond milk sweet cream cold foam.

Sweetener: The most popular sweetener used is simple syrup. Liquid sweeteners work better with your coffee drink and topping as they produce a more even distribution of sweetness with no residue.

If, like me, you are on a sugar-free diet you can sweeten with honey, maple syrup, monk fruit, stevia or any alternative sweetener of your choice.

Vanilla: If you wish to flavor your sweet cream cold foam vanilla bean paste, vanilla extract and vanilla syrup are all good options. You can take an extra step and gently heat your sweet cream cold foam with a sliced vanilla pod and let the flavor extract from the vanilla pod. Leave the pod in the mix while it cools.

Add all your ingredients to a tall glass, the cream be it heavy cream or coconut cream and almond milk. Add your sweetener.

Mix your solution well and blend at a high speed with a handheld blender or countertop blender until it thickens and is well blended. Blending should take approximately one minute.

With a handheld electric milk frother, insert it to the bottom of your tall glass and froth. Move your milk frother through your milk slowly and evenly from bottom to the top until you get a good quality sweet cream cold foam. Frothing should take about a minute.

Pour your almond milk sweet cream onto the top of your iced coffee or cold brewed coffee by diffusing your pour over the back of a tablespoon.

Quantities, Amounts To Use

Per person or per drink made:

  • 3 Tablespoons of full fat coconut cream.
