How To Make Vanilla Sweet Cream At Home

This is so easy to make, and you can make as much or as little as you wish. Let’s start with the vanilla syrup. I suggest that you make a lot of the coffee syrup since it doesn’t really go off and can be used in a number of recipes and not only coffee drinks.

Vanilla Coffee Syrup

This is easily available in Starbucks in both regular and sugar-free forms and can easily be bought in store from your local outlet.

You can also buy a number of other brands from Walmart, Target, eBay and Amazon. You can get exotic and try French vanilla or Madagascar vanilla simple syrup.

Making your own vanilla-flavored simple syrup for coffee drinks is easy. Just use equal amounts of filtered water and sugar.

Take 1 cup of water to a boiling point and let it simmer. Add one cup of sugar and mix well. Mix it very well until all is dissolved.

Take two freshly chopped vanilla pods and add them to your mix of simmering sugar water mix. Stir well, and ensure good extraction of the flavor from the vanilla pods. Let it simmer with a lid over your saucepan for approximately 20 to 25 min.

It is much better to make your syrup this way than using a vanilla extract.

Let the solution cool for approximately 30 min and then filter the vanilla pods from your solution using a sieve. You may need to filter a second time.

Store your vanilla flavored simple syrup in a glass container with an airtight container.

How To Make Vanilla Sweet Cream At Home!

This part is just as easy as making the vanilla flavored coffee syrup.

Use equal parts of 2% milk and heavy cream. Mix them well together by stirring well. Add two teaspoons of vanilla syrup at a time and mix well each time. In between, taste test your sweet cream to ensure you have just the correct amount of vanilla added and not too much or too little.

You don’t need to use a hand blender to ensure that your ingredients are well blended; a whisk or a spoon is fine.

Viola! You have your very own Starbucks Vanilla sweet cream to add to your coffee.

Try A Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew!

Your freshly made vanilla sweet cream is an excellent addition to a cold brew coffee. You can add your sweet cream to any coffee drink, but in opinion, one of the best coffees to use it in is a cold brew coffee.

If you want to replicate a Starbucks cold brew you have a few options:

  • Buy a premade cold brew itself from Starbucks.
  • Buy a packet of their instant “just add water” cold brew sachets.
  • Buy their ready to drink box of cold brew coffee.
  • Buy their breakfast blend of whole coffee beans and make your own cold brew coffee.

The first 3 options require no effort. The last one, a little effort and a lot of patience due to the long brew time of 12 to 16 hours.

Grind your beans to a coarse, even grind size and use a coffee to water ratio of 1:8. I strongly advise making extra due to the long brewing time. If you enjoy a 12 Oz (360 ml) cup of coffee, make 36 Oz, enough for 3 cups of coffee or a cup of coffee every morning for 3 days.

36 Oz (1080 ml) of water and 4.5 Oz (135 grams) of coarse coffee grounds. Use ice-cold filtered water and a glass container with an airtight lid. Add your grounds to the container and then add your coffee grounds. Place your coffee and water in your fridge and let it brew for 12 to 16 hours.

It is much better to extract your cold brew at a low temperature in your fridge to get a better extraction of the low temperature flavor compounds. You may need a longer extraction time, perhaps up to 24 hours. Taste test after 12 hours and every few hours after that to ensure you have the perfect taste for you.

Once ready, it is very, read critically, important that you filter out the coffee grounds as your coffee will continue to extract and eventually become too bitter to enjoy. Filter using a metal filter, due to the grind size a sieve will be good enough.

This too is important as a metal filter will not filter out any of the coffee oils that give your coffee its flavor and body.

When your cold brew coffee is ready, pour into a tall glass with ice and pour in your vanilla sweet cream and enjoy.
