Sadly Starbucks vanilla sweet cream cold foam offers very little in terms of nutritional value to your diet.
While it is true that coffee contains some very healthy compounds like chlorogenic acid, a potent antioxidant that is only found in coffee, phenolic compounds and flavonoid that are very good for you and your body.
There are thousands of peer-reviewed studies that prove coffee is great for your liver, cardiovascular health and your brain health too.
Coffee is undoubtedly healthy and very good for you.
But this is in reference to coffee on its own, black coffee with no milk and no sugar added.
Although there are nutrients like riboflavin, niacin, potassium, magnesium in coffee. They are in small amounts.
Which means the figures to look at for are how many calories, cholesterol, sugar, sodium and how much caffeine is in the drink of all sizes, which you will find in the table below.
Drink Size | Fat | Cholesterol | Sugar | Carbs | Sodium | Calories | Protein | Caffeine |
Tall 12 Oz (360 ml) | 5 g | 15 mg | 9 g | 9 g | 20 mg | 90 | 1 g | 140 mg |
Grande 16 Oz (480 ml) | 5 g | 15 mg | 14 g | 14 g | 20 mg | 110 | 1 g | 185 mg |
Venti 24 Oz (720 ml) | 11 g | 35 mg | 23 g | 23 g | 35 mg | 200 | 2 g | 275 mg |
Trenta 30 Oz (900 ml) | 11 g | 38 mg | 28 g | 28 g | 40 mg | 220 | 2 g | 320 mg |
The recommended maximum daily intake for sugar as suggested by the American Heart Association is 27 grams per day for women and 36 for men.
This, in my opinion, makes only the Tall and Grande drink sizes as healthy. Even though you can have more sugar than the amount in these two drinks, you must account for what you have had earlier that day and what you may have later.
As far as caffeine is concerned, 200 mg per day is the maximum suggested for pregnant and nursing women.
The maximum amount for healthy adults is twice as much, 400 mg per day. These are the suggested limits by the Food and Drug Administration. This makes the Grande 16 Oz (480 ml) the maximum drink size for pregnant ladies.
The amount of cholesterol, for all drink sizes, is well within the safe limit of 300 mg per day for healthy adults.
The sodium content is well within acceptable limits, also with safe limits being 2,300 mg per day.
