In this article we talk about Nespresso Vertuoline third party capsules. Currently, there are no third party manufacturers or makers of vertuoline capsules by other companies.
Their Vertuoline is protected by patent laws and cannot be copied or made by other manufacturers.
This means that only Nespresso can make capsules for a Vertuoline.
That got us thinking about a question we were asked by a regular reader – The Sweetest Nespresso Vertuo Pods.
To be clear on that matter, sugar or artificial sweeteners are not added to the capsules, but sugar is in the coffee naturally. How sweet they taste will depend on the beans and the roast level.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nespresso Vertuoline Third Party Capsules
Can You Use Third-Party Pods In Nespresso Vertuo?
The VertuoLine is a proprietary design and is protected by laws regarding patents. This means that, unlike Nespresso Pods, third party manufacturers are not legally permitted to design similar style of pods, meaning it is (currently) not possible for third-party pods to be used in a Nespresso VertuoLine machine. This, of course, may change in the future if Nespresso permits or issues a license to do so.
Can Nespresso Vertuo Use Other Pods?
No, Vertuo pods are of a completely different size and shape from other coffee pods, like K-Cups and Nespresso Original pods. Unfortunately, the coffee pods are not interchangeable. It is very unfortunate that Nespresso Pods will not fit in a Nespresso Vertuo machine and vice verse.
Do Starbucks Pods Work In Nespresso Vertuo
Starbucks by Nespresso are developed with Nespresso to work perfectly in their Vertuo System. The pods are of the quality and standard that you would expect from Starbucks and are fully recyclable.
Can You Use Regular Nespresso Pods In VertuoLine?
No, you cannot use regular or original Nespresso Pods in Nespresso Vertuoline machines. The shapes and sizes of the pods are completely different. Nespresso Vertuoline machines are rounded and have a barcode on them that tells the coffee machine how to brew that exact pod.
Can You Use Other Pods In Nespresso VertuoLine?
No, you can only use vertuoline coffee capsules in your Nespresso Vertuoline single serve coffee maker. You can’t use the original Nespresso coffee pods in your Vertuoline machine.
Unfortunately due to there being no third-party options, the variety of your coffee options is limited.
Does Anyone Else Make Vertuo Capsules?
No, Vertuo coffee capsules are only made by Nespresso. They have some tie-in deals with well known brands like Starbucks to make a wide range of Starbucks capsules, these are made by Nespresso under license.
Why Can You Only Buy Vertuo Pods From Nespresso?
The reason why Vertuo capsules are only made by Nespresso is due to the special custom barcode along the edge of the machine, which must be recognized and read by the machine.
The bar code provides the information for fully customized brewing for each individual capsule.
Are Vertuo Pods More Expensive?
Yes, vertuo coffee capsules are a little more expensive when compared to their Original coffee pods and Keurig K Cups.
Frappé-ing It All Up – Nespresso Vertuoline Third Party Capsules.
Unfortunately, there are no Nespresso vertuoline third party capsules available just now – this seems to be, in my opinion, a weakness by Nespresso where you must buy the capsules from them. Keurig K Cups are much better in this aspect where they allow any company to make their own coffee pods.
Personally, I find it a little odd as the Nespresso Originaline has many great third party coffee pods.
